How many times a day do we make
The conscious choice to choose the fake,
To accept a lie than deal with the mistake
Of going along with people on the take?
Like Madison Avenue, people tell us to look
For temporary joy sold by a crook;
And we chase the wind and end up on the hook
For our sin-ridden souls when the truth we forsook.
Will we come to the end of our lives just to find
The lies that we bought can’t give peace of mind?
And when nothing can change the past left behind
We’ll curse the day we followed the blind.
I knew a man who swallowed a fake
He swallowed a fake sold by a snake
For the sake of the fake
He followed a snake
And for his mistake
His life was at stake
But for a Man who his place did take.
It’s not too late to change our misguided days
To ones that rely on God’s loving grace;
But first to the Cross we turn our stricken gaze
Finding the truth in Christ and His ways.
